In August of 2014 the first meetings between the then Vietnamese Ambassador to Greece – Mr. Binh Vu and the Mayor of Thessaloniki Mr Ioannis Boutaris. The meeting’s purpose was to appoint Mr. Vasilios Konstantinidis as the Honorary Consul of the Vietnamese Socialist Republic in Thessaloniki

In September 2016, the Foreign Ministry of Greece announced Mr. Vasilios’ Selection according to law 1068/Π24,10,2016. The Vietnamese Foreign Ministry in 10th of January 2017 in Hanoi recognized Mr Vasilios’s appointment and a formal reception was held alongside the new Ambassador Ms. Tran Thi Ha Phuong. The new Honorary Consulate started officially on the 1st of February 2017 in 3 Aristotelous Square, in downtown

The Consulate represents Vietnam in all National celebrations and cultural events, therefore promoting Vietnam’s presence and image.

Highlight activities

• May 2017: Opening Reception in “B” restaurant where members of the Consular Corps, Members of the European Parliament as well as important local Authorities (Mayor, Regional Governor etc.)
• May 2017: National Television of Vietnam in 20th Thessaloniki Documentary Festival
  Correspondents Mr Tran Quang Minh and Mrs Ta Thi Bich Loan and were provided with an interview by the Consul, after the tour we gave them around the city
• May 2018: The consulate of Thessaloniki facilitated the visit of the 12-member delegation of the Communist Party of Vietnam headed by H.E. Vo Van Thuong .The Consulate of Thessaloniki
• August – September 2018: Vietnamese companies participated in Thessaloniki’s International Fair “Helexpo”. H. Consulate assisted the participant companies to maximize their success by providing both human and material resources during the Fair.
• February 2019: Dr. QUOC Truong Tien, Vietnamese business man visited Thessaloniki accompanied by the current Ambassador NGUYEN MANH CUONG

Consulate also facilitates civilians with inquires such as visa issuing, marriage license, traveling and business information
