Santorini “enchants” Vietnam

The mayor of Thira, Mr. Antonis Sigalas, had a meeting with a large official delegation from the state of Vietnam. The head of the delegation was the Minister of Interior, accompanied by high-ranking officials from important ministries of the country. Also present at the meeting were Deputy Mayor Sophia Kitsou and the Vice President of the Commercial and Industrial Association of Thira, Antonios Lignos.

The meeting took place in a friendly atmosphere and focused on enhancing cooperation between the two countries in the tourism sector, with a particular emphasis on Santorini, which the Vietnamese representatives expressed their admiration and preference for. Vietnam is a country in Southeast Asia with a population of around 100 million inhabitants and has experienced significant economic growth in recent years, with a booming tourism sector.

The Vietnamese representatives expressed their desire to explore ways of cooperation between Santorini and emerging tourist destinations within Vietnam, a proposal that was positively received by the Municipal Authority. The mayor informed the Vietnamese delegation about the unique experiences that Santorini offers to its visitors and presented the priorities and goals of the municipality, as outlined in the Strategic Development Plan of Santorini.

At the end of the discussion, the mayor thanked the Vietnamese officials and offered them souvenirs, accompanying them on a brief tour of Fira. The visit of the Vietnamese delegation, following the preceding one from South Korea, emphatically confirms the appeal and penetration of Santorini into new important markets worldwide.
