USA – Vietnam: The “new page” in bilateral relations
US President Joe Biden said that his country’s relations with Vietnam have “entered a new stage”.
Speaking at a business forum during an official visit to the South Asian country, Biden said the two countries are deepening their cooperation in cloud computing, semiconductors and artificial intelligence.
Vietnam and the US also warned today in a joint statement against “threats or the use of force” in the South China Sea, a message that, as AFP points out, is clearly aimed at Beijing on the occasion of President Biden’s visit to Hanoi .

Biden said he would go to Vietnam “soon”.
US President Joe Biden said that he will visit Vietnam “soon” in order to “change” the relationship with Hanoi, against the backdrop of tensions with China, both in the region and between Washington and Beijing.
“I’m going to Vietnam soon because Vietnam wants to change our relationship, to become a partner,” Mr. Biden said at a campaign fundraiser in New Mexico.
Asked about this announcement, a representative of Mr. Biden’s services at the White House limited himself to saying that he had “nothing more” to announce “at this time.”

Santorini “enchants” Vietnam
The mayor of Thira, Mr. Antonis Sigalas, had a meeting with a large official delegation from the state of Vietnam. The head of the delegation was the Minister of Interior, accompanied by high-ranking officials from important ministries of the country. Also present at the meeting were Deputy Mayor Sophia Kitsou and the Vice President of the Commercial and Industrial Association of Thira, Antonios Lignos.

Honorary Consulate started operating officially on the 1st of February 2017 in 3 Aristotelous Square, in downtown Thessaloniki. In May 2017 a formal reception to celebrate the opening of the Consulate was held in a restaurant next to the Town Hall.
